All Tangled Up

My curly locks are a disaster - dry, brittle with split ends galore.  Help Needed!

Breaking Point

Shopping is done, sandwiches are made...now I just have to have the stomach to eat them!

Day 1 was brutal. I ate an all natural peanut butter sandwich and half a chocolate bar of lindt 70% dark chocolate.  I never knew chocolate could be so bitter and I don’t know what possessed me to keep eating it. Note to self - take more healthy snacks and take it easy on the dark chocolate.

Day 2 not much better.  One soggy spicy turkey breast sandwich with Dijon mustard, cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes.  Cottage cheese, carrots and pumpkin seeds for snacks...oh and one square of dark chocolate. I noticed that dark chocolate tends to curb your appetite...well for a bit anyways.  Note to self -this cold sandwich thing isn’t working out so I'm gonna try bringing a warm healthy lunch for the remainder of the week.

Day 3 - today - it's Scott's bday and we're going to Dantees for lunch.  woohoo!  That means sleeping in this morning.

And I'm not even gonna mention what I had for dinner...let's just start with fixing the lunch situation...then we'll graduate to dinner.

Happy Eating

Making a List & Checking It Twice

I’ve decided - enough of this excessive spending, empty calories and inhalation of overpriced junk food. ..I’m going to start packing my lunch from Monday!
Step One – rid the house and office of all junk food.  I’m happy to say this step is complete – the junk food has all been eaten so no more temptation – done and done.
Step Two – Go grocery shopping this weekend and stock up on the healthy stuff.  I don’t plan to fall for those LOW FAT and LOW CARB labels which substitute sugar and butter with ingredients I can barely pronounce.  I’m convinced these culprits are to be blamed for society’s high obesity levels.  Every other product on the shelf screams out DIET nowadays and yet obesity levels are at their highest.  I’ve recently read our stomachs have trouble digesting these foreign chemical compounds and our brains don’t recognize them either, which leads to over eating, excessive cravings and possibly pimples.

My mantra for the next couple months will be - the less processed the better.   I’ll stalk up on fresh fruits, veggies, nuts, whole wheat bread, plain yogurt, cheese, lean meats like turkey breast, tuna, chick peas, natural peanut butter, quinoa (where do I even get that besides Aroma?).  And of course dark chocolate – so my body doesn’t shut down from the sudden dip in sugar levels.  Sounds like a pretty boring lunch hour – but let’s see how it goes.
Let me know what else you think I should put in my cart...

186 Days and Counting!

I'm getting married on July 15, 2011...so now what!??!?

You're wedding day only happens once in your life...knock on wood... and you want to look fabulous for it.  Right?  Well I didn't think it was such a big deal at first but I've been asking around and flipping through bridal magazines and apparently it is!

I always believed brides had a natural glow about them.  But apparently the dewy look of love comes with a lot of effort, time and money...and I don't want be the only bride left behind - the bride that never tried. So I'm making the pledge today that I'll be taking some time out of my busy schedule on a weekly basis to make myself bridal ready =) Exercise routines, hair and skin treatments, and 4 buckets of water here I come!  I’ll be doing research, testing out old wives tales and asking for your advice....Bridal Bliss here I come!
